Wildfowl and Woodcock
Wildfowling
Due to our location on the coast we can offer some excellent wildfowling which can be either geese or mixed duck flighting.
Duck Flighting
This is offered over fed flight ponds and is normally for Mallard and Teal although occasionally Widgeon make an appearance. Guns are positioned around the pond usually about 1 hour before dark as the duck flight in to feed. Cost is £40 per gun per flight.
Inland Geese over Decoys
South Ayrshire is a wintering ground for large number of geese which come from the North to avoid the bad weather, usually arriving in large numbers from November; however this is subject to the weather and crop conditions. Usually Greylags are predominant but we have reasonable numbers of Pinkfeet as well. We set up decoys in the dark and then wait for the geese to flight in from there roost to feed at first light. Cost is £60 per flight per gun.
Woodcock Shooting
South Ayrshire holds good numbers of Woodcock, which usually build up to a peak from mid November, we offer walked up shooting over dogs walking the woodland margins and edges. Normally we shoot half a day, with a break and then wait at the bottom of woodland rides and glades for the ‘ cock to flight out to feed at last light. This is challenging and exciting shooting for a totally wild bird, cost is £125 per gun.
